Failure is not an option….right?
We shouldn’t let failure define us, but rather refine us.
I have my version of a “Vision Board” in my home office. Ok, so it’s a closet door filled with Post-It Notes that have quotes, thoughts, or ideas that inspire me. I do have to admit, it’s rather colorful! Anyway, when I walked in to the office this morning, a note had fluttered to the floor. So it has become my inspiration for the day.
Failure shouldn’t define us but rather refine us. What the heck does that mean? I will give you my take on it.
We all fail. We all make mistakes, some more costly than others. But what do you learn from that? The real issue is not whether you’re going to fail, it’s whether you’re going to fail successfully. Learning from and reviewing our failures leads us to greatness – not mediocrity. You have to learn how to fail forward.
If you are afraid to take risks, to make mistakes or be rejected your life may not lead to failures. But it most certainly will not lead to great success or use your great potential. Success is all about how you deal with failure and more importantly that if you fail, you need to keep trying. We all have heard the statement “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” But learn from your failure. Refine your process, identify the area or areas of failure and move forward. Failure can be the springboard to success.
Failures should be viewed as learning experiences and opportunities for growth. A dear friend and mentor told me this about failure:
L – Learning
O – Opportunity
S – Stay
S – Strong
When you suffer a setback or failure, don’t get caught up in the negative, but get caught up in failing forward and LOSS!
Until next time,
Anne
